PRINTS AND PRINTMAKING: A Brief History and Tips for Buyers
Printmaking can be very confusing, with its obscure terminology. What exactly is an artist's print or artist's proof? Is a giclée print a worthwhile investment, and how limited should a limited edition be? How can one recognise an etching, engraving, woodcut, lithograph or screenprint?
This illustrated talk will offer some clear guidelines for understanding and purchasing prints. It will also look at techniques of the greatest printmakers from Dürer and Rembrandt to Picasso and Warhol.
